Spectrum

Spectrum is a calm daily set of seven comparisons drawn from a big grab-bag of quantities, from bones in the body to stars in the galaxy. Each round shows two of them side by side with both numbers hidden, and you pick the one you think is bigger. Both amounts are then revealed, so you learn something either way. The two are always of similar size, which makes it a real call rather than a gimme.

How to play

1. Each round puts two everyday quantities side by side. Neither number is shown.
2. Tap the one you think is the bigger amount.
3. Both amounts are revealed and the bigger one is marked, so a miss still tells you the answer.
4. The next pair follows after a few seconds, or tap Next to move on. You always play all seven rounds.

Scoring and streaks

• Playing the day out earns one star and counts toward your streak.
• More than half the rounds right earns two stars.
• A clean sweep, every round right, earns three stars.

Sharing your result

When you finish, you get a spoiler-free badge to share. It shows how you did, never the answer, so friends can be curious without spoiling their own puzzle.

Common questions

Is everyone's set the same?

Yes. The same seven pairs in the same order for every player each day.

What if I do not know either one?

That is the puzzle. Think in orders of magnitude and go with your sense of scale. Even unsure calls often land.

What happens when I get one wrong?

Nothing but that round. Both amounts are revealed, the bigger one is marked, and you carry on to the next pair. Your daily streak keeps going.
